OUR
MISSION

moonsparks was founded with the intention to be more than a place to make art; it is a space to belong. Not work, not home, but a “third place", where absolutely everyone is welcome as they are.

Whether you are touching clay for the first time or have years of experience behind you, moonsparks is a space where vulnerability is safe! Play is encouraged, exploration is celebrated & mistakes are simply part of the learning process. Here, creativity thrives & community feels like family.

Through clay we shape more than pottery! We shape connection, expression & a sense of belonging!

Lisa Sparks

Owner / Founder

Lisa worked as a software engineer for over 40 years & retired at 50. She has been volunteering in Art Galleries & Museums since 2012. She has been President of a 501(c)3 in Northern New Mexico. Lisa is a veteran & found ceramics to help cope with her PTSD. She was inspired to create a space where artists could find a similar therapeutic outlet.

Ben Fields

Director / Head

Ben is an award-winning multimedia artist who specializes in wheel-thrown functional ware & has taught pottery in Taos for six years, much of it through art-based therapy & counseling. His decade of studying ceramics across the Western US has led to work featured in galleries & exhibitions throughout the country. He currently lives off-grid on the mesa with his dogs, & is excited to direct a pottery studio that values community & embraces the creative diversity of Taos.
